The show

From a garage in 2004 to a Jersey Shore tradition.

The Christmas Light Show began in 2004 in Matt Pinnella's garage — a few lights and a computer. Founder Dan Brateris, then an electrical and computer engineering student running the mobile DJ company dj Dan, wondered what would happen if you pointed dance-floor and theater equipment at a house for Christmas.

The answer drew the whole neighborhood. With Dan's brother Brian and a growing crew of close friends — Trevor Ferguson, Mike Roberti, Wyatt Ferguson, David Lippman, Matt Pinnella and more — the show moved to bigger homes in Wall Township, then to its current stage on the Connelly-Campion-Wright building in Belmar Plaza. Every year it's rebuilt, reprogrammed, and set to a new soundtrack.

The show is produced by Raising4 Inc., a New Jersey nonprofit, and staffed entirely by volunteers — including Mr. and Mrs. Claus on most nights. Every dollar donated goes to RallyCap Sports, a local 501(c)(3) that runs recreational sports programs for children with special needs.
